Harker sixth out of 38 cars in opening Toyota 86 practice
Reid Harker's first outing in the Australian Toyota 86 Racing Series at Phillip Island started strongly with the New Zealand Toyota 86 Championship graduate sixth in the opening practice session.
Harker was an early pace setter in damp but drying conditions on the Melbourne circuit in the 38-car field. 20-minutes was all the drivers got to get to grips in their first session.
Harker took his time to bed the Australian Toyota 86 in, but didn't set a time in the opening minutes. On a busy track the 20-year-old sifted his way through the traffic and went about setting quick sector times.
His first quick time put him second fastest, which he made sure to back up as those around him improved on the drying track.
Harker's last time in the session initially put him third fastest, but a few late calls dropped him to sixth just three tenths off the pace of the leading drivers.
Fellow Kiwi Ryan Yardley couldn't get as close to the front with a time only good enough for 21st, two seconds off the leading times.
