Vaughn Gittin Jr Formula Drift Ford Mustang arrives in New Zealand

Vaughn Gittin Jr's newly built Formula Drift-spec Ford Mustang RTR has arrived, ahead of next weekend's Leadfoot Festival event in Hahei.

The event will see Gittin Jr drifting alongside the likes of former Formula Drift USA rival 'Mad Mike' Whiddett, and former Link ECU D1NZ National Drifting Championship winners Darren Kelly, Cole Armstrong, and 'Fanga Dan' Woolhouse.

As previously reported, following the event Gittin Jr will be handing over the new Mustang to Woolhouse — making it the first Formula D-spec car to call New Zealand home outside of Whiddett's fleet of rotary-powered Mazdas.

“I can't wait to get into this car after Vaughn's driven it, and crack the throttle open on the Roush-Yates Racing engine, it's going to be epic,” said Woolhouse.

Having landed at CTB Performance in Manukau, the car will soon set off for Hahei on the Coromandel Peninsula. Once the car has changed hands, it will become a regular fixture in the D1NZ National Drift Championship.

CTB Performance recently confirmed a deal to stock RTR Vehicles parts for road-going Ford Mustangs and Ford pick-up trucks.
