Mitch Evans has won the Mexico City E-Prix after a superb drive from lights to flag.
Evans took the lead on the run to the first corner, barging past pole sitter Andre Lotterer and dominated from there.
Envision Virgin’s Sam Bird capitalised on Lotterer’s error and moved into second position.
Geox Dragon’s Nico Mueller misjudged the entry into Turn 1, ploughing into the wall and duly bring out the safety car.
Lotterer slipped even further down the ranks, damage to his front, right wing left a plume of smoke behind him. He would eventual retire from the race.
The drama didn’t stop there, Mercedes-Benz EQ’s Nyck de Vires failed to stop for turn one, clipping Robin Frijns while skidding to a halt at the end of the straight.
Mitch Evans crossed the line trouble-free, clinching his and Jaguar’s second victory in the series.
DS Techeetah’s Antonio Felix da Costa and Nissan e.dams’ Sebastian Buemi rounded off the podium.
Evans now leads the championship, after erstwhile leader Stoffel Vandoorne suffered a late impact with the wall and failed to score.
