Chris van der Drift leaves Brazil with ‘unfinished business’

For the second time running Chris van der Drift has left Brazil’s Stock Car series wondering what could’ve been.

The 32-year-old didn’t turn a lap during the rain affected race after a hub failure put them out of the race just 12 laps in.

The wet conditions were just what van der Drift wanted, he told, however, he couldn’t even get in the car due to the failure.

“I didn't even get to jump in the car,” he said.

“It was a real shame as we have been right up there during the week.”

He and his teammate Gabriel Casagrande were quick throughout the weekend leading up to the all-star race, which featured names like Mark Winterbottom, Laurens Vanthoor, Felipe Mass and Rubens Barrichello.

“It was a pleasure to drive with Gabriel in the Brazilian Stock Car this weekend at Interlargos [sic],” van der Drift wrote via social media.

“Thanks to everyone I met for the first time in Vogel Motorsport they are a great bunch of guys. I hope to be back soon as I have unfinished business here!”

The Kiwi will continue his racing season in Asia in a few week’s time when he completed Porsche Carrera Cup Asia pre-season testing.
