New SuperUte livery for Alexander, as iconic sponsor joins assault

Tom Alexander's RSR SuperUtes Holden Colorado will sport a revised livery at this weekend's second round of the championship.

Primary sponsorship from SP Tools will now be supported by backing from Caltex — specifically its Delo lubricants division.

The Colorado now serves as a double-barrelled throwback for team owner Ross Stone, with both brands former sponsors of his old Stone Brothers Racing Supercars Championship team.

“It’s been really good for us to have support for SP Tools, and now putting the deal together with Caltex is just perfect,” said Stone.

“I’m really enjoying the SuperUtes Series and very pleased to be involved. I think it is really going to grow, we just need a bit more time with the whole thing.

“Everyone went to Adelaide a little underdone, but we had a test day at Winton, which was excellent, and now we’re really looking forward to going racing again.”

The Auckland-based Alexander had an encouraging series debut at the Adelaide 500. Spending most of the weekend on podium pace, the former BNT V8s driver claimed victory in race two before mechanical issues ruled him out in race three. He is currently seventh in the standings.

“We supported Tom [through SBR] in his Formula Ford days and always kept a close eye on him, so when the Ute program came up, it was a perfect fit,” said Stone.

“He’d hardly had any laps before Adelaide. I thought he’d be good but he’s exceeding what I’d hoped.”
