Front row start for Tom Alexander in Sandown SuperUtes

Tom Alexander will start the opening race of the ECB SuperUtes Series from the front row alongside Elliot Barbour.

In his Holden Colorado, Alexander was half a second adrift of the leading Mitsubishi Triton pilot who set a fastest lap of 1:32.049.

The qualifying session was incident free, only a few drivers finding themselves out in the weeds or using the extended tarmac runoff at turn one.

Ryal Harris was one of those who tried to use as much of the road as possible. He qualified third in his Mazda BT50. Craig Woods completed the second row in his Toyota Hilux, making a four-pronged manufacturer fight at the front.

A total of 11 utes will race in this weekend’s Sandown 500. The opening race gets underway at 11:35am NZST on Saturday morning.
