Carl Thompson reveals iconic Falken livery for International Drifting Cup

D1NZ National Drifting Championship most improved driver of the year Carl Thompson will sport the iconic Falken Tyre livery this year.

Thompson is the third New Zealand pilot confirmed to contest this year’s Honeywell Garrett International Drifting Cup behind ‘Fanga’ Dan Woolhouse, Jaron Olivecrona and Jase Brown.

The drifters will play support to the annual World Time Attack Challenge at Sydney Motorsport Park over October 12–13.

Thompson shot to internet fame with his quad-rotor Lexus GS300, which he followed up earlier this year with a Talladega Nights-inspired livery for the Nissan Silvia S15.

Now the Marsh Motorsport-built Warhawk V8-powered Nissan pushing 656kW (880hp) will run in the Falken trim.

The Falken Tyre livery is perhaps one of the most well-known liveries in world drifting. Some of the world’s best including Vaughn Gittin Jr. and James Deane have drifted competitive with the livery.

This year Thompson finished 10th in the Link ECU D1NZ National Drifting Championship behind series veterans Drew Donovan and Daynom Templeman.

His performances this year earnt him the ‘Most Improved’ and ‘Giant Killer’ titles in this year’s New Zealand Drifting Awards.
