Earl Bamber second fastest in second co-driver only practice

Erebus Motorsport driver Will Brown led Red Bull Holden Racing Team racer Earl Bamber in the second co-driver only practice.

Practice three of the Sandown 500 ran relatively incident free with only a few off-road excursions.

Jonathan Webb went for a wild ride at turn two after missing his braking marker. The Tekno Autosports owner and 2016 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 winner went off through the grass, taking a bit of dirt and grass with him out the other side.

Warren Luff was the early pace setter and stayed at the top for the largest part of the practice session.

Garry Jacobsen was pushing in the no.15 Nissan Altima, so much so that he locked up into turn one and went off through the grass with 10 minutes to go.

Earl Bamber set the fastest first sector of anyone with six minutes to go, and duly set the fastest time with a 1:08.626.

Will Brown eclipsed the Kiwi a minute later, just 0.003 faster than Bamber. Only a couple of minutes later Brown locked up into turn nine, speared off into the gravel trap, but powered out the other side after a full circuit of the run off.

He recovered and duly pitted to end his session. Jason Bright went off in the final moments of the final practice in similar style to Brown to finish the session.

The session ended with Brown at the top of the session, Bamber second and expat-New Zealander Steven Richards third. Sandown 500 Supercars Practice 3 results (co-drivers):
