Revealed: The new Ford Mustang set for Supercars

DJR Team Penske have released the first images of the new for next year Ford Mustang that’ll debut in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

The Mustang will take over from the Falcon in 2019, with DJR Team Penske, Tickford Racing and 23Red Racing running the new racecar.

Wednesday saw McLaughlin and Shell V-Power Racing teammate Fabian Coulthard test the car. Another test is expected to take place at Phillip Island later this week, which will allow the team to better understand the car’s aerodynamic ability at high speed.

Straight line tests alongside the Nissan Altima L33 and Holden Commodore ZB will take place after the season final.

Uploaded Image have confirmed McLaughlin will get a new chassis for the 2019 season while Coulthard will have his 2018 chassis upgraded to the new aero package.

McLaughlin currently leads the Supercars standings over fellow New Zealander Shane van Gisbergen by 14 points.
