Nick Cassidy to test SUPER FORMULA with TOM’S

This year’s SUPER GT and SUPER FORMULA runner up Nick Cassidy will test this week for TOM’S Racing.

The 24-year-old will participate in the post-season rookie test at Suzuka Circuit in what will be his final drive of the Dallara SF14. Next year a new Dallara-built chassis will be introduced, the SF19.

This year Cassidy came close to winning both major Japanese titles. Cassidy drove for KONDO Racing in this year’s SUPER FORMULA campaign after he debuted with them in 2017.

On only his second season he was able to challenge for the championship, which went down to a last lap thriller in Suzuka. Unfortunately he narrowly missed out.

This week Cassidy will shift stables from KONDO to TOM’S, the same team he races for in SUPER GT and won the title with in 2017 alongside Ryo Hirakawa.

Cassidy will share the TOM’S garage with two-time SUPER FORMULA champion Kazuki Nakajima.

Several driver/team combinations have yet to be confirmed for the test.

Cassidy will test alongside several other high profile young guns. Former Castrol Toyota Racing Series driver Charles Milesi of France will test with Team LeMans alongside European Formula 3 driver Ralf Aron of Estonia and Formula 2 Championship competitor Arjun Maini of India.

British Formula 3 driver Tristan Carpentier will drive with Real Racing, while Lucas Auer and Harrison Newey will test with the combined B-Max/Motopark outfit. European Formula 3 runner Alex Palou will test for Nakajima Racing.

Tadasuke Makino returns to Japan off the back of an unsuccessful run in Formula 2 and will drive for Nakajima Racing.

Cassidy’s racing plans for the 2019 season have yet to be confirmed but are expected to be announced by February next year.
