Nick Cassidy has been awarded the opportunity to test for the Envision Virgin Formula E team during an in-season test post the next race in Marrakech.
The New Zealand racing sensation has flown under the radar for much of his career.
However, last year witnessed Cassidy be crowned Super Formula Champion and runners up in a Super GT campaign.
Cassidy will now have the opportunity to further develop his single-seater talent, showcasing his proven ability in front of all 12 Formula E teams.
The current Formula E season is being headed by fellow Kiwi Mitch Evans, whose dominant win in Mexico-City last weekend was enough to secure the points lead.
“I’ve not experienced anything like a Formula E car before and I’m excited to see how I perform,”Cassidy told Autosport.
“I’ll be joining the team throughout the weekend in Marrakech and it’ll be great to go through all the race weekend rituals with them – especially as they got a double-podium there last year.”
Cassidy will partner Japanese driver Ryo Hirakawa in a Toyota Supra GT500 for this season’s Super GT championship beginning on April 11 at Okayama International Circuit.
