Kelly Racing reveal Castrol Mustang

Kelly Racing has let the covers loose on their 2020 Castrol Mustang livery.

Rick Kelly will once again be at the forefront of the Castrol-led challenge in a design that is rather synonymous to previous liveries raced by the 2006 V8 Supercars champion.

Kelly Racing made the bold decision to operate two Mustangs as their 2020 car after the departure of the Nissan Altima, which Kelly Racing had used since 2013, from the sport.

The subsequent drawback to the change was the exclusion of the team’s third entry of Simona de Silvestro.

The reveal comes nearly three months since the unveiling of teammate Andre Heimgartner’s Mustang, sporting the NED Whiskey branding.

The official reveal of the Rick Kelly’s 2020 challenger was celebrated in Melbourne’s Federation Square, much to the delight of the team which were constantly hindered by setbacks on route to developing a brand-new Mustang.

“I can’t wait to hit the track in the Castrol Mustang, I think it looks great, certainly looks fast and really happy with what we’ve achieved so far with an exciting season ahead,” said Rick Kelly at the team’s launch event.

2020 will be the third year that Castrol has been the major title sponsor for Rick Kelly and have been a part of Kelly Racing since 2009.

Kelly added, “The Castrol relationship has been extremely valuable particularly with the engine development stuff we’ve been working on where it’s ultra-important that we have the utmost consistency with everything when testing parts for performance and reliability, so to have a product and a support team that we can rely on has been extremely beneficial.”

The unveiling of the Castrol backed Mustang now completes Kelly Racing’s 2020 squadron.

The car will officially hit the track for the first time during the testing at the Bend Motorsport Park on February 18th.
