Van Der Drift targets fourth title

Kiwi GT sensation Chris van der Drift announced via social media last Sunday that he will return to challenge the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia with Team Yonda for 2020.

Team Yonda had been absent from the series since 2015 but are back to launch another assault upon the popular one-make category.

Van der Drift himself is already established as a veteran master of Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. A three-time series champion, Van der Drift is extremely pleased with the opportunity to race for a new team this season.

“It's my pleasure to say I'm back in Porsche Carrera Cup with Team Yonda,” said Van der Drift on his Instagram account where he announced the news.

“The team hasn't been on the grid for a few years but are now back with a three-time Champion - together we have only one goal this year!

“A first Championship for Yonda and a fourth title for me.”

Van der Drift obliterated his competition during his series debut back in 2015, winning half of that season’s races on route to a maiden championship.

Since then the Kiwi driver claimed further titles in 2017 and 2018.

Porsche Carrera Cup Asia kicks off with a three-day test at Sepang between the 21st-23rd February.

The 2020 calendar also features three Formula One support rounds, including at the inaugural Vietnamese Grand Prix held in early April.
