Hayden Paddon reveals radical hillclimb-spec Hyundai i20

An outright record could tumble this weekend at the Winmax Brakes Ashley Forest Rallysprint courtesy of WRC star Hayden Paddon.

Despite seemingly juggling a-million-and-one projects, one that has flown under the radar is his highly modified Hyundai i20.

The car now no longer conforms to AP4+ spec – although it can be converted back – with big aero, big power, and a task to tackle.

It’s not the first time Paddon has tried to take the Ashley Forest Rallysprint. In 2018 he tried to break the outright record but fell short of doing so after mechanical woes halted him at the final hurdle.

Instead, it was Alister McRae, brother of the late Colin McRae, who took out the event in a WRC-spec Subaru Impreza WRX STi.

If Paddon comes out on top this Sunday it’ll be his second win. His first came in 2011 when he drove the iconic V8-powered all-wheel-drive Mitsubishi Cordia.

Sloan Cox currently holds the record time of 54.96, which was set in his Mitsubishi Evolution in 2017.
