HIGHLIGHTS: IndyCar Series at Long Beach

A last lap battle between Scott Dixon and Graham Rahal saw a dramatic finish to the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

While Alexander Rossi dominated the 85-lap affair to win by a mammoth 20 seconds over Josef Newgarden, all eyes were on Dixon and Rahal for third.

Rahal was struggling for grip on the hard compound tyre and was all out of Push-to-Pass. With 20 seconds remaing in the bank, Dixon was hustling to get by the American.

A mistake by Rahal at the Turn 8 right hander allowed Dixon to get a run on Rahal up the straight, but the Andretti Autosport driver covered Dixon immediately. The pair made wing-to-wheel contact and Dixon came over the radio straight away asking fr officials to review the incident.

It wasn’t long after the race was finished that IndyCar Series officials deemed that Rahal had blocked and so he was relegated to fourth.
