Hyundai Motorsport pilots Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja have walked away from a monster shunt in the Rallye Monte Carlo.
Tänak rolled the no. 8 Hyundai i20 N nine kilometres into SS4, Saint-Clément – Freissinières. Despite going off the road at 185 km/h, the pair managed to walk away unscathed.
Both Tänak and Järveoja were assessed for injuries but were uninjured. The Estonians were kept in hospital overnight for precautionary monitoring.
“Most importantly, I am pleased that Ott and Martin are fine after their accident in this morning’s loop,” Hyundai Motorsport Team Principal Andrea Adamo said.
“Our priority in such situations is always the condition of the crew first and foremost. It is customary after such incidents for hospital check-ups, the results of which were clear.
“They will remain there for monitoring overnight, which is again routine procedure. Secondary to all of this, we have brought their car back to the Service Park and have retired the crew from this event.”
