Cooper Murray has topped Saturday morning’s co-driver practice at Bathurst aboard Triple Eight’s wildcard entry.
Murray, who partners Craig Lowndes for The Great Race, set his best lap of 2:07.0951 on his 23rd and final lap in the one-hour session, which was over four-tenths faster than second-fastest James Moffat (Cam Waters).
Jayden Ojeda (Jack Le Brocq) was third fastest, despite triggering an early but brief red flag after running off at Hell Corner.
Jordan Boys (Macauley Jones) impressed for fourth, one spot to the good of the sole Kiwi co-driver in the field, Fabian Coulthard.
Scott Pye (Will Brown), Aaron Cameron (Aaron Love), Todd Hazelwood (Brodie Kostecki), and Garth Tander (Matt Payne) completed the top 10.
Remarkably, a busy night at Shell V-Power Racing saw Will Davison’s #17 Mustang repaired following his heavy crash atop the mountain that brought an early end to Friday’s qualifying. Kai Allen completed 20 laps in the car.
Likewise, David Reynolds’ #20 Camaro was repaired overnight and completed 17 laps at the hands of Warren Luff.
Dale Wood, Richie Stanaway’s co-driver, was 22nd fastest, while Dean Fiore (Jaxon Evans) was 11th, and Declan Fraser (Andre Heimgartner) was 14th.
Supercars returns for Practice 6 at 3.10 pm NZST, before the Top 10 Shootout at 7.05 pm.
The 2024 Bathurst 1000 starts at 1.30 pm NZST on Sunday.
