Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney has topped the second and final practice of the Melbourne SuperSprint at Albert Park.

The 21-year-old survived an earlier scare at Turn 8 on the tight street circuit, brushing the concrete barriers, as Mark Winterbottom had done in Practice 1, before returning to the track to set a 1:47.4057s flyer on his final circuit.

That was enough to pip Tickford’s Cam Waters by just 0.0026 seconds, while Shell V-Power Racing’s Anton De Pasquale completed the top three.

Andre Heimgartner was the best of the Kiwis in fourth, 0.11436 seconds behind Feeney.

Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne was sixth, behind Chaz Mostert, while Will Brown, David Reynolds, Jack Le Brocq, and Mark Winterbottom completed the top ten.

Richie Stanaway went 16th quickest, eight-tenths off the pace of the leader. Ryan Wood was 21st on his second-ever outing at Albert Park, one position ahead of Jaxon Evans.

Feeney’s contact with the Turn 8 wall was the only incident of note, but the only damage was a buckled rear wheel.

Supercars return to action with Race 4 and 5 qualifying at 5.10 pm ahead of the opening 19-lap race of the Melbourne SuperSprint at 7.55 pm.
