Feeney tops Mostert for Bathurst finale pole

Saturday race-winner Broc Feeney continued his strong run of form at the Bathurst 500 to secure the pole for Race 2 from Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Chaz Mostert.

Feeney earlier qualified as the fastest for the Top 1o Shootout and entered his run chasing Mostert’s 2:06.6453, which he was able to do by one-tenth of a second.

Will Brown, who had provisionally qualified second, was unable to better the Mustang’s time and fell eight hundredths short of earning a front-row lockout for Red Bull for the second consecutive race.

James Golding will start alongside Brown off the second row for this evening’s 40-lap race, while David Reynolds and Jack Le Brocq complete Row 3.

Reynolds had earlier relied on his final run to progress to the Shootout, having not set a representative time as the clock ran low.

After a difficult Saturday, the new day brought a change of fortune for DJR, who had both drivers qualify in the Top 10. Will Davison will start eighth, next to Thomas Randle and directly ahead of teammate Anton De Pasquale, who has a resurgent Nick Percat alongside.

Ryan Wood was the fastest of the five-strong Kiwi contingent in the timed session for 11th, missing out on the Shootout by 0.0135 seconds from Percat.

Matt Payne lines up from 13th, with Richie Stanaway 15th, Andre Heimgartner 19th and Jaxon Evans 24th.

Racing begins at 5.05 pm and will be shown live on Sky Sport 5.
