Leipert Motorsport have this morning confirmed Brendon Leitch as one of four drivers to compete in the 2023 Le Mans Cup.

Leitch will again pair up with American Gerhard Watzinger to share the drive of the #70 Crowdstrike Lamborghini GT3 EVO2 throughout the six round competition.

Five of those rounds feature two hour enduros run within the European Le Mans Series whilst the highlight of the calendar is Round 3’s Road to Le Mans which runs in support of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Leitch and Watzinger have teammates Gabriel Rindone and Patrick Kujala for company, that duo driving the #19 Lamborghini GT3 EVO2.

Rindone and Leitch were both apart of the Asian Le Mans Series which concluded last week, the team scoring two podiums in the final weekend to shoot up the ladder and finish fourth overall.

Leipert Motorsport also indicated they would have liked to have entered a third entry for the competition but the grid was now full.

Managing Directors if the team, Marcel Leipert & Marc Poos, released a joint statement about the entries and the plans going forward.

“We are looking forward to the new challenge in the Michelin Le Mans Cup with the two Lamborghini GT3s,” they said.

“Our driver pairings are very competitive and we are very well positioned for the fight for the title. The programme is the basis for further races, which in the medium term should lead to the endurance classic, the 24h of Le Mans.

“We would have liked to have brought another car to the start, but unfortunately the car was not considered when the grid was allocated due to the high number of starters. We will announce our further GT3 programme as well as our Lamborghini Super Trofeo line-up shortly.”

Leitch may also be called upon for that role in Lamborghini Super Trofeo having run double duties last year in that series and the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.

All in all it makes for a busy year for the Kiwi who has already competed in the New Zealand Grand Prix and Asian Le Mans Series.

The Le Mans Cup gets underway in Barcelona on April 22.
