Leitch pumped for this weekend’s 12 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

Brendon Leitch is excited to be will lining up for the 12 Hour of Spa-Francorchamps this weekend, returning to one of his favourite tracks, Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.  

Along with teammates Kerong Li and Jean-Francos Brunot, the trio will take part in the latest 24H Series round in the GT3 AM category driving a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO for Leipert Motorsport.

“Spa is a very fast circuit which requires real commitment, and there is no room for error” commented Leitch.  “It would be one of my favourite tracks.”

The round is a one-off for the trio in preparation for several endurance races later in the season.

“It’s going to be good for the boys to get some good mileage around Spa.  It’s about getting comfortable in testing and practice, ready for the race.  There’s lots of testing leading up to it so we will be able to get a rhythm going as we get up to speed.

“We have two six-hour races with one on Saturday and the other on Sunday, which is a little bit different.  I’m confident we can do well as we have a strong BoP (Balance of Performance) although we expect it to be pretty competitive.”

The round requires all three drivers to qualify with the average time across the team determining their starting grid.

“It will be interesting with the Hankook tyres.  It is quite a firm compound with quite a stiff tyre wall so we know we can go a couple of hours on one set.”

Testing for the weekend gets underway this evening (NZ time) with free practice and qualifying on Friday 5 May, the first six-hour race underway on Saturday at 11:50 am (9:50 pm NZ time) and the second six-hour race on Sunday set to go at 10:30 am (8:30 pm Sunday NZ time).
