Christchurch’s Dan Kelly had a straightforward win in the One-Hour South Island (Class 4&5) race at Teretonga Park in Invercargill on Saturday. Kelly led Round 2 from start to finish on a damp track, even lapping the entire field soon after the halfway mark.

“Very happy with the results,” commented Kelly.

“A big thanks to the team for giving me such an awesome car and to all my family and supporters.  It gives me a lot of confidence heading to the finale at Highlands.”

Second home was an impressive display by Conley Webley (BMW Z4 M Coupe), who earlier this season won the North Island Endurance Series Class 4 One-Hour title and finished ninth overall.

Unfortunately, Webley retired out of the Christchurch round of the South Island Series but looked solid in second for the duration of Saturday’s race.

“I really enjoyed it today,” said Webb.

“I thought I would struggle on the wet tyres, but it worked out fine. Thanks to the team, the family and all my supporters.”

Rounding out the podium was Duncan Cundall-Curry (BMW M1 GTR E87), who had to defend against a hard-charging Chris Wall, keen to get back on the podium after finishing runner-up to Kelly in Christchurch.

“Chris (Wall) was catching me on slicks (tyres) at about two seconds a lap,” said Cundall-Curry.

“I ran out of talent and spun, so thankful for finishing in third.”

Wall made a late change from wet to dry tyres on a drying track, hoping to make the podium. However, the race was finished under safety-car conditions after Toby Elmiger put his Toyota 86 into the gravel.

It’s Kelly’s second win of the series, and he now has an eighteen-point lead over Wall, who is second equal with Cundall-Curry. Kelly leads Class 4 from Cundall-Curry by 114 points with Webb in third.

Honda Civics fill the first three places in the Class 5 competition, with Wall in first, followed by Donoval Isted and James Mitchell, while Andrew Bartlett’s Honda Integra Type R is in fourth.

Drivers and teams now prepare for the final Round 3 at Highlands Motorsport Park, Cromwell, 18 October 2025.
