If you’ve ever wanted to own a piece of automotive history once pedalled by one of New Zealand’s greatest racing drivers, well now’s your chance as Greg Murphy’s old Holden Commodore V8 Supercar is up for sale.

The car in particular is a 2000 model (VT), chassis number 009, and is just one of four cars built by Gibson Motorsport in Australia before the team switched to Ford Falcons in 2001.

Interested buyers will be pleased to know that this is reportedly one of the most “lightly raced” Gibson Motorsport Commodores to have been built, as it only competed in five events in 2000.

It made its racing debut with Murphy behind the wheel at the Calder Park V8 Supercar round in Melbourne, an event that doubled as the #12 Kmart-liveried car’s shakedown run, according to V8 Sleuth.

The Commodore next raced in Queensland where Murphy and teammate Steven Richards drove it to a third-place podium finish, achieving the same result at the grueling Bathurst 1000 later that year under race number #7.

After its millennium year with Gibson Motorsport, the car was sold off to a privateer who raced it in what is now known as the Super2 Series. It’s understood the car has been in hibernation until today.

Murphy’s old Holden Commodore V8 Supercar is now up for sale at Melbourne-based dealership Sullivan Kerr. But for how much? Unfortunately, we don’t know the answer to that one as the listing states the price is only provided on application. We don’t doubt that it’ll fetch a pretty penny though.
