New Zealand racing driver Jaxon Evans took part in round eight of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS 8) over the weekend but was met with tough luck come race day.
Evans had been competing in the #911 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R nicknamed ‘Grello’ during the event, placing the car eighth on the grid ahead of the four hour race.
After two and a half hours while running ninth in class, the team had to retire the car due to an issue.
The problem had already reared its head earlier on in the race with Grello having to pit, setting Evans and co-driver Thomas Preining back in the field.
Manthey Racing was also contesting a second 911 GT3 R car in the race which crashed as driver Dennis Olsen chased down second place.
Following the accident, Olsen reported he was ok over the team radio.
“Unfortunately not the race we wanted yesterday but that’s the way it goes sometimes,” said Evans on social media.
“An amazing experience and privilege to drive the #911 Grello with Manthey Racing and Thomas Preining. Really enjoyed my time with the team.”
