Round 3 of the Giltrap Group North Island Formula Ford (NIFF) takes place this weekend with a return to Pukekohe in a one day event.

It will be a busy day for the Formula Ford competitors as they share the track with the New Zealand Production Series, Northern Muscle Cars and Racing Saloons, elf Rhino Racing Series and NZ Six/HQ Holden & SS 2000/K Sports Cars for a full day of track activity on Saturday.

Qualifying takes place at 10.20am with a 10 minute session before the 10 lap Race 1 gets underway at 11.40am. Race 2, also 10 laps, begins at 2.14pm.

The final race of the day is slightly longer at 12 laps, and begins at 4.44pm

Round 2, which ran in support of Supercars event at Pukekohe, showcased the talent on the grid with tight battles throughout the field over the track.

It’s Liam Sceats who leads the series following that event, five race wins out of a possible six to his name so far in 2022, a clean-sweep in Round 1 and taking two out of three at Pukekohe helping his cause.

Despite the two round wins for Sceats, it was Alex Crosbie who claimed Round 2 honours after a start-line infringement relegated Sceats to sixth in Race 2.

Crosbie, however, will not be present this weekend after a recent test with the Ferrari Driver Academy in Malaysia.

There’s been a massive repair job undertaken for a number of competitors after the previous Pukekohe event, a major crash in Races 2 and 3 damaging multiple cars

Blake Dowdall was one of those impacted, however a rebuild will see him return to the battle come Saturday.

Judd Christianson is another who will make a return after damage from the same crash.
