David Dovey, president of NIERDC, announced that the Club had secured Hampton Downs International long circuit for the Golden Homes sponsored, New Zealand Endurance Championship final.

“We are very pleased to have secured the International Circuit at Hampton Downs for our Grand Final, thanks to Hampton Downs management and our promotor Speedworks,” said Dovey.

“It’s a fitting venue with the best pit facilities in New Zealand bar none, plus excellent corporate hospitality facilities for our series sponsor’s and teams alike.

“We are looking forward to hosting the many South Island SIERDC competitors who have already indicated their intention to compete at the Grand Final on the 19th and 20th of November, 2021.

“The final should see a combined field of at least 12 top GT3 car’s including, 3 NISMO GTR-GT3 cars, 5 Audi R8’s, 2 Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 cars, plus the Heart of Racings Aston Martin, as well as the McLaren GT3 and the only Porsche GT3 R in the country.

“There is also a strong contingent of GT4 cars running for class honours including 3 McLaren’s and 2 Ferrari 458’s, undoubtedly the best field of international Supercar’s, assembled in one place at one time, I am genuinely excited at the prospect and can’t hardly wait” Dovey quipped.

Competitors interested in qualifying for one of the 20 NIERDC 3-hour slots for the November NZ Endurance Championship Grand Final (that have not yet competed in the previous 2 rounds) can still qualify for the grand final by entering one or both of the remaining 2 round’s, namely the Taupo round on the 11/12 June and/or the NIERDC final at Pukekohe on the 25/26 of June 2021.
