A PROVISIONAL calendar has been announced for season 3 of the Repco NextGen NZ Championship across the New Zealand summer of 2026/27.
The calendar is subject to final Motorsport New Zealand approval and pending the final placement of other key events on the domestic and international calendar, to again ensure ‘clear air’ for New Zealand’s premier development Series.
Commencing at Taupo Motorsport Park in mid-November, the series will again include six events crossing the North and South Islands.
The popular run of four back-to-back events return in January, with events at Hampton Downs (on the International circuit), the Taupo Historic GP and a return South to Teretonga before culminating in the 71st NAPA New Zealand Grand Prix at Highlands.
The final round will see the championship return to Hampton Downs, introducing a new event on the National Circuit to conclude the season.
Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon, host of the Season 2 Grand Finale’ this weekend, will be absent from the 2026/27 season due in part to restrictions around both circuit availability for ‘noisy’ days in the next year.
However, following discussions this weekend between the Repco NextGen NZ Championship and Manfeild CEO Paul Cocks, provisional plans are already in place for the Manawatu circuit to open the 2027/28 Repco NextGen NZ season – ensuring the circuit remains a staple on the national motorsport calendar for the long-term.
Discussions with the Canterbury Car Club to include a round at Ruapuna did not progress beyond early stages, though the Repco NextGen NZ Championship will continue to work towards a potential round at the Christchurch venue in the future.
Planning is already well underway with categories and circuits for the 2026/27 season, continuing the stated aims of NextGen to deliver the world’s best development series.
