Rosebank Speedway in Auckland has been given a major boost ahead of the 2025–26 season, with the Whau Local Board approving a new 10-year lease for the historic venue.
The decision provides long-term security for Rosebank Speedway to continue operating out of Rosebank Park Domain, ensuring the sport’s future at the West Auckland site.

The lease approval is the result of years of hard work by the speedway community, with special thanks going to Gary Hughes and Doug Cole for their unwavering efforts over the past six years.
Speedway New Zealand also played a key role in assisting with the process, while ongoing fundraising efforts and generous prize donations from supporters helped make the milestone possible.
“This lease gives us the confidence to plan for the future and invest in exciting upgrades at the venue,” the committee said.
“We’re now looking forward to putting all our energy into delivering the best possible shows for our competitors and fans.”
