Kiwi teenager Liam Sceats is back in Auckland following an extensive USF Pro 2000 testing program with TJ Speed Motorsports on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.

Sceats, who currently sits second in the Formula Regional Japanese Championship, completed five test sessions over two days, finishing as high as fourth in his final run.

“I’m thrilled with how I worked and the strong relationships formed with the team,” said Sceats. “I worked hard with the team the entire week to help me build confidence with learning a new car and gain experience working in a new environment in the US.”

“I enjoyed driving this car. It felt a lot like an FT50, being a light car that was nimble in the rear, so I felt confident that I could be fast straightaway in the first session.

“It was good with the car out the gate. We wrapped up the two-day test with P4 in the final session. Hopefully, we can be back here sometime soon.”

Sceats wasn’t the only Kiwi involved at the test, with USF2000 race winner Jacob Douglas also taking to the wheel for Pabst Racing.

Both are currently in action at Hampton Downs, facing off against each other and New Zealand Formula Ford Champion Alex Crosbie in the Tony Quinn Foundation Shootout, where the winner receives a $70,000 reward to use towards a Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship campaign.

Sceats will then head back to Japan for the final round of the Formula Regional Japanese Championship at Sportsland Sugo in Murata over the weekend of 25-26 November.

He currently sits 28 points behind championship leader Sota Ogawa with three races in hand.
