New Zealand IndyCar driver Scott Dixon has been referred to as one of the country’s “best-ever” sportspeople by fellow Kiwi racer Greg Murphy.
In an interview with Australian sport radio station SEN, Greg Murphy celebrated the 42-year-old driver’s achievements in motorsport saying, “He’s a freak, he really is.”
“He won the other week at Toronto and he just continues to impress… he’s 42 and the most experienced, most successful driver in the field by a long stretch.
“He’s now equal second on the all-time win list with Mario Andretti, he’s an icon and one of, if not, New Zealand’s best-ever sportspeople.
“He really is, he should be recognised for that more often, so it’s awesome to watch,” Murphy added speaking with SEN.
Dixon recently claimed his first win of the 2022 IndyCar season in Toronto which sees him tie with Mario Andretti for second in all-time IndyCar wins.
He currently sits tied third in the championship with Joseph Newgarden and has just five rounds to go to try and claim his seventh championship win.
