Stanaway to join PremiAir Nulon Racing for 2025 Supercars season

PremiAir Nulon Racing has confirmed that departing Penrite Racing driver Richie Stanaway will join their team for the 2025 Supercars season.

Stanaway replaces Tim Slade, who recently announced his retirement from the sport.

The announcement makes no mention of the length of Stanaway’s contract, but it is believed to be two years.

“I could not be more excited about this opportunity to join PremiAir Nulon Racing,” Stanaway said.

“The passion and enthusiasm held by Peter and Carmen Xiberras and the entire team is absolutely undeniable, and the commitment they have shown in the three short years they have been a part of the Supercars championship is impressive.

“The results of that are really starting to show with their first podium coming at Sandown, and I look forward to hopefully being a part of many more great results to come from next year,” Stanaway concluded, while thanking Peter and Carmen for the opportunity to join the team.

Team boss Peter Xiberras said he was looking forward to what Stanaway will bring to his emerging outfit – which recently celebrated its first podium at none other than the prestigious Sandown 500 just weeks ago.

While Stanaway was forced out of the Sandown 500 with an engine failure, he did plenty across the weekend to show that he has exceptional racecraft behind the wheel.

“There is no doubting Richie is exceptionally talented – you don’t have a CV like his or win the Bathurst 1000 by accident after all – and while he was forced to endure an early exit at Sandown this year, it was clear that he has what it takes, especially when the weather gods are against you,” Xiberras said.

“We look forward to having Richie join our team alongside Jimmy Golding and seeing what we can achieve together.

“In the meantime, we would once again like to thank Tim for all of his efforts and contributions to our team over the past two years – He has been a true gentleman of the sport. We look forward to continuing to work with him and Jimmy as we all look to finish out the current season in the best way possible.”

After just one full season with Grove Racing, the 2023 Bathurst 1000 winner was overlooked in place of rookie Kai Allen at the team for the 2025 season.

Reigning champion Brodie Kostecki’s move to DJR triggered a wave of movements throughout the field, leaving fans in the dark as to what 2025 holds for the Kiwi.

With Slade announcing his retirement, PremiAir Nulon Racing were the big winners and secured the GP3 race winner’s signature.

Two rounds remain in the 2024 Supercars season, beginning with next weekend’s Gold Coast 500, before the season finale in Adelaide, where Stanaway will partner compatriot Matt Payne for the final time.
