New Zealand’s Shane van Gisbergen has topped compatriot Andre Heimgartner in this afternoon’s Supercars race in Sydney, making for an all-Kiwi front row.

A 1:29.9100 on van Gisbergen’s final lap in the 15-minute session was enough for him to top the BJR entry by just 0.0563 seconds. Broc Feeney returned from a difficult day out yesterday to qualify third. two-tenths off the pace of the lead pair.

Bryce Fullwood will start from fourth, one spot ahead of championship leader Brodie Kostecki, who has Cam Waters for company on the third row.

Mark Winterbottom starts from seventh, next to David Reynolds, whose team worked wonders to repair his car following yesterday’s damage. Anton de Pasquale and Will Brown round out the top 10.

Matt Payne will start the race from 24th.

Kostecki led van Gisbergen as teams returned to the track for their final flyers, the runs which would ultimately determine the grid layout.

Reynolds was the first to make a big gain, topping van Gisbergen to jump to second, which was soon eclipsed by Mark Winterbottom. Fullwood would then go top as times flew in, which was soon eclipsed by Heimgartner and then van Gisbergen.

Feeney also put in a good lap to go third, while Kostecki dropped to fifth. Waters was the fastest of the Mustangs in sixth.

Race 19 begins at 5.30 pm and will be shown live on Sky Sport 5.
