Raymond Vermeulen, manager of Max Verstappen, has responded to the news that Christian Horner has been dismissed as Red Bull Racing’s team principal.
Speaking to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, Vermeulen confirmed they had prior knowledge of Red Bull’s decision.

“We were informed in advance by Red Bull’s management that this decision had been made,” said Vermeulen.
“It’s up to Red Bull to provide further explanation regarding the reasons.
“We continue to look at the sporting side and are looking for more performance so we can return to the top. In that respect, nothing will change.”
On Wednesday evening, Red Bull confirmed that Horner would be replaced by Laurent Mekies, who steps into both the CEO and Team Principal roles. Mekies, who had most recently led Racing Bulls, is succeeded there by Alan Permane.
Horner had been with Red Bull since its debut season in 2005 and was the longest-serving team principal in Formula 1 until his abrupt exit after the British Grand Prix.
In a brief social media tribute, Red Bull acknowledged Horner’s impact on the team.
“After 20 years with the Team, Christian Horner departs Oracle Red Bull Racing as Team Principal and CEO,” the post read.
“We thank him for his tireless and exceptional work. He has been instrumental in building this team into one of the most successful in F1, with eight Drivers’ Championships and six Constructors’ Championships.
“Thank you for everything, Christian. You will forever remain an important part of our team’s history.”
Formula 1 will resume later this month with the Belgian Grand Prix, taking place from July 25 to 27.
