Fabian Coulthard focused on opportunities ahead

Fabian Coulthard is turning his focus to a strong co-driver performance at Bathurst after his unexpected exit from Team Sydney

Coulthard was released from his contract with Team Sydney following the sale to Peter Xiberras, the team now renamed to PremiAir Racing.

Fresh off a full-time drive in the series, with 13 race wins and podium finishes at Bathurst to his name Coulthard is likely to be the key to the co-driver market.

Coulthard spoke to Supercars.com about his Team Sydney exit and what lies ahead.

“It is what it is. I got dealt a card which I had no control over,” Coulthard said.

“I had an agreement for 2022, so my focus was preparation for that. Then the carpet got pulled from under my feet.

“Obviously I’d love to be in the championship in 2023. This year will now be quieter than expected, but I’d like to be racing when and where I can.

“I need to make the most of my opportunities that will be presented, like this weekend.”

This weekend Coulthard will be at Race Tasmania behind the wheel of a TCR car for a cameo appearance at the season-opening round.

Coulthard is hoping to return to the Supercars championship in a full-time seat for the 2023 season.

“But I’m committed to making the most of this time, putting my best foot forward and getting a strong drive for Bathurst.”

If Coulthard is on the grid for this year’s Bathurst 1000, it would be his 19th start in the Great Race.
