Applications are now open for the 2026/27 Wolfbrook Motorsport Foundation Scholarship, offering one aspiring New Zealand racing driver the opportunity to take the next step in their motorsport career with significant financial and on-track support.

Established by Wolfbrook Director Steve Brooks, the Wolfbrook Motorsport Foundation was created to help talented young drivers overcome the financial challenges often associated with progressing through the sport.

The scholarship provides the successful applicant with access to a Toyota GR86 race car and up to $50,000 in funding for a campaign in the highly competitive Toyota GR86 Championship.

The initiative has quickly become one of the most sought-after opportunities in New Zealand motorsport, providing emerging drivers with a genuine pathway to showcase their abilities against some of the country’s best young talent.

The opening of applications follows another successful season for the Foundation, with Lucas McGill selected as the 2025/26 scholarship recipient.

McGill entered the Toyota GR86 Championship with the backing of both the Wolfbrook Motorsport Foundation and the Tony Quinn Foundation after securing victory in the Tony Quinn Foundation Shootout shortly before being named the Wolfbrook scholarship winner.

Throughout the season, McGill continued to develop his racecraft while competing at some of New Zealand’s premier circuits, including Taupō International Motorsport Park, Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon, Teretonga Park and Highlands Motorsport Park.

The campaign provided valuable experience for the young driver as he adapted to new tracks, larger fields and even wet-weather racing for the first time. Competing against one of the strongest Toyota GR86 fields in recent years, McGill finished the season 14th in the overall championship standings with 326 points and ranked as the third-highest scoring rookie in the category.

His progress across the season highlighted exactly what the Foundation was established to achieve – giving talented young drivers the opportunity to gain crucial experience and develop their skills in a professional racing environment.

The scholarship continues to receive support from several well-known figures in New Zealand motorsport, including former Toyota 86 champion and current Supercars race winner Ryan Wood, as well as James Marshall, owner of James Marshall Motorsport.

Brooks launched Wolfbrook Motorsport in 2022 and has since built an extensive racing programme of his own, competing in Porsche GT3 Cup machinery before expanding into GT3 competition with an Audi R8 GT3 EVO2. Alongside his own racing commitments, Brooks has remained committed to supporting emerging Kiwi talent through initiatives such as the Foundation.

As the programme enters another season, the goal remains unchanged – to create opportunities for promising young drivers and help build a stronger future for New Zealand motorsport.

Applications for the 2026/27 Wolfbrook Motorsport Foundation Scholarship are now open. Drivers interested in applying are encouraged to submit their applications and take advantage of one of the country’s most significant junior motorsport development opportunities.
