Kiwi WorldWCR racer Avalon Lewis put in an impressive showing at Magny-Cours, climbing a combined 11 places across her two races.

Superpole:
Lewis opened her first run in 13th, but the session was briefly halted after Beatriz Neila’s crash brought out the yellow flags.
When she returned for her second attempt, Lewis suffered a fall of her own at Turn 7.
With just 14 minutes left, her crew faced a race against time to get the bike checked and running again, but she was unable to rejoin the session. That left her 15th on the grid with a best lap of 1:54.698, 2.830 seconds off pole-sitter Chloe Jones.
Race 1:
Lewis made a strong start, jumping three positions through the opening corners to slot into 12th and immediately latch onto the pack ahead.
By the end of the first lap, she had also dispatched Pedemonte and Veillard, breaking into the top 10.
Her charge continued on lap two when she overtook Dobbs, before the race was briefly neutralised under yellow flags following a collision between Emily Bondi and Lloyd that sent both riders out.
Moments later, drama struck again as Sara Sanchez, running inside the top five, crashed at Turn 9.
When racing settled, Lewis lost a place to Pedemonte, who reclaimed the position she had surrendered earlier, leaving the Kiwi ninth. From there, she concentrated on defending her spot, fending off pressure from the chasing pack as the leaders pulled clear.

On lap six, both Dobbs and Veillard found a way past, pushing Lewis just outside the top 10. She stayed locked onto their rear wheels, maintaining pressure but unable to find another opening.
Through the second half of the race, the Kiwi remained in touch with the group ahead, ultimately crossing the line in 11th — a gain of four positions from her starting spot.
Maria Herrera went on to take victory, becoming WorldWCR’s first race winner at Magny-Cours.
Race 2:
With Sanchez and Bondi ruled out after their race-one crashes, Lewis lined up 14th for Sunday’s contest.
She once again launched well, immediately gaining two places off the line before carving past three more rivals on the opening lap to sit ninth — the biggest mover of the field.
Two laps later she continued her charge, slipping by Dobbs to climb into eighth, six spots higher than where she had started.

Ahead of her, Reloh was handed a penalty for a jump start, which meant she would drop behind Lewis once it was served. Before that happened, Lewis managed to overtake her on track, briefly running seventh.
With clear air, she began reeling in Rivera in sixth, trimming the gap to just over two seconds before Reloh fought back and reclaimed the position. The pair traded places several times in a lively scrap until Reloh finally peeled off to serve her penalty with four laps remaining.
That sealed seventh for Lewis, capping off a strong drive that saw her climb seven positions and secure her best result of the weekend.
Lewis now holds eighth place in the championship standings with 72 points from 23 riders. The WorldWCR season concludes at Circuito de Jerez in Spain on 17–19 October, where the Kiwi will be aiming to finish her campaign on a high.
