Bamber and Trinka storm to breakthrough victory with XONINE Racing at Laguna Seca

Will Bamber and Darius Trinka delivered a standout victory for XONINE Racing in Race 2 of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, bouncing back from a difficult debut outing the day prior.

After a mid-race retirement on Saturday due to a parts issue in their first weekend together, Bamber and Trinka returned with intent on Sunday—and executed to perfection in the No. 33 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2.

Starting from seventh overall, Trinka laid the foundation with an impressive opening stint. He surged through the field to run third overall and second in the Pro class, showing strong pace and composure in a race already filled with chaos and position changes.

The turning point came just before the pit window, when a full-course caution reshaped the race. The neutralisation delayed pit stops and compressed the field, presenting a crucial opportunity for XONINE Racing to capitalise on strategy.

When the pit window opened following the restart, the team executed cleanly, handing the car to Bamber in a race-leading position. From there, Bamber controlled proceedings at the front, maintaining the advantage and managing the gap through to the finish, which ultimately came under caution.

It marked Bamber’s third Pro class victory in four races—and his first with XONINE Racing—highlighting a rapid adaptation to his new team and machinery.

“Speechless, really,” Bamber said post-race.

“We wanted to get one for the guys after a tough Saturday. Darius did an amazing job—coming from seventh to second before the stop really put us in position. The team executed perfectly from there.”

Trinka’s contribution proved pivotal, with his aggressive yet controlled drive setting up the result.

“The racing gods were in our favour today,” Trinka said.

“We knew we had the pace, and I just focused on moving forward and executing. It was tough starting where we did, but after yesterday, we were determined to make it count.”

The victory capped a rapid turnaround for Bamber, Trinka, and XONINE Racing—turning early adversity into a statement result and underlining their potential as a formidable combination in the championship.
