Brendon Leitch crowned Lamborghini Super Trofeo world champion

Brendon Leitch and Leipert Motorsport co-driver Anthony McIntosh went undefeated in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals at Jerez.

A blockbuster weekend at the Spanish circuit saw Dayle ITM-backed Leitch and McIntosh share a Lamborghini Huracan across four races in the Pro-Am class.

The four-day event was split into two parts with the final leg of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe followed by the World Finals.

In inclement conditions, Leitch and McIntosh claimed third place in the opening race of the weekend before claiming fifth in the Super Trofeo Europe season finale.

Sunny skies greeted the team for the World Finals, where the best Pro and Pro-Am line-ups from Europe, America, and Asia converged to crown the world champions.

Leitch and McIntosh qualified third and seventh in class respectively before racing forward in both races to victory.

Race 1 of the World Finals was a chaotic affair with Leitch racing from the middle of the pack, avoiding carnage ahead of him to win by 1.6 seconds.

Race 2 saw Leitch surge forward early and hand the car over to McIntosh in second place before inheriting the lead in the pit stop sequence.

The American cruised to the chequered flag to collect the maximum points to seal the World Finals title with a maximum haul of 30 points.

It capped off a near-perfect weekend for McIntosh, who also claimed Am class honours in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America.

“I couldn’t have done it without Brendon. He’s been amazing, an amazing co-driver.” said McIntosh.

“I’m going to have to come up with a new slogan because back to back, this is crazy. I don’t know if I’m living in a dream or am I actually still in a dream, and if so, don’t wake me up!”

The World Finals crown adds to Leitch’s already impressive CV in Lamborghini Super Trofeo, having won the Europe title solo a year ago in the Pro class.

“Tony brought the thing home for us and did an amazing job at the end,” said Leitch.

“He was battling in amongst the Pros and I couldn’t have asked for a better teammate myself. Crazy race for us. Nervous the whole way.

“I agreed with him when he said yesterday that it’s much harder watching than driving.”

The World Finals win caps off a breakout year for sports car star Leitch, who will be Gold rated in 2025.

The Southlander won races in Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS with co-driver Tim Miles, beating experienced drivers like Supercars champion Will Brown and two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert.

Leitch also made his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut with MDK Motorsports at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Battle on the Bricks.

The 28-year-old is currently in the process of finalising his program for the 2025 season, which will be announced in due course.
