Bryn Jones and Max Freeman are ready to get back onto the gravel this weekend as the Peugeot Rally Cup Portugal heads south for Round 4, Rallye Casinos do Algarve, on 2–3 October.
The pair will once again campaign their Peugeot 208 Rally4 with PT Racing, with Jones returning to gravel for the first time since Rali D’Aboboreira in April.
After several months competing on tarmac, Jones is looking forward to getting back onto a surface he knows well, having spent much of his rallying career competing on gravel in New Zealand.
“Really looking forward to returning to gravel again this weekend.”
While the previous gravel round at Amarante ended in disappointment following an accident, Jones believes the pace shown before the incident gives the team plenty of confidence heading into the Algarve.
“I know I’m stronger on this surface, as I spent my time competing on it back at home in New Zealand.”
The return to gravel also provides another opportunity for Jones and Freeman to continue building their experience of Portuguese rallying, while targeting a strong result in the competitive Peugeot Rally Cup field.
“We hope to put together a strong result and show our speed, whilst also continuing to build on our experience.”
Jones and Freeman head into the event fresh from sixth place in the Peugeot Rally Cup at Rali da Água, where they battled through some of the trickiest stages to secure another solid result.
With the championship now in its later stages, the pair will look to carry that momentum into the Algarve and make the most of their return to gravel.
