Nick Cassidy has moved to the top of the Formula E standings with victory on the iconic Monaco circuit overnight. Mitch Evans was the second driver across the line to make for the second Kiwi one-two this year.
The victory also makes it four consecutive Kiwi wins in the series after Evans topped Cassidy in the first Kiwi one-two in Brazil and they won one race apiece in Berlin.
For Cassidy, the victory was done in his traditional charging style, the Kiwi quickly moving forward from ninth on the grid to put himself among the front-runners early.
Evans was also keeping pace with the front group from the early stages, leading on several occasions but ultimately outmaneuvered by his compatriot who retook the top spot just after the halfway point.
Two late Safety Cars brought the race to an anti-climactic end, disrupting a thrilling late battle between the Kiwis who had Jake Dennis keeping them company as the cars powered through the narrow streets at high speed.
The victory means Cassidy leapfrogs Pascal Wehrlein to take a 20-point championship lead, the German having a quiet race to only score a sole point in tenth. Evans moves to fourth but is well within striking distance of the front three.
Formula E next returns for the Jakarta E-Prix double-header on June 3-4.
