Anton De Pasquale has qualified quickest in this morning’s 15-minute session at Taupo International Motorsport Park.

Having finished third on Saturday, the Shell V-Power #11 led the way with a 1:27.0928. That was just 0.0272 seconds faster than Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Chaz Mostert, who is looking to bounce back after losing a wheel in Race 7.

Red Bull recovered from Saturday’s lack of pace for both Will Brown and Broc Feeney to progress to the Top 10 Shootout. Brown was the third-quickest, just 0.002 seconds behind Mostert and 0.0238 seconds faster than top Kiwi Matt Payne, in fourth.

Just five-hundredths of a second separated the top four.

Ryan Wood continued his strong run of form at home to qualify for his second consecutive Top 10 Shootout in fifth, ahead of Feeney.

Tim Slade returned from his startline crash in Race 7 to qualify seventh, one place ahead of defending champion Brodie Kostecki.

Jack Le Brocq and Thomas Randle were the other drivers to qualify for the Top 10 Shootout.

Saturday’s winner, Andre Heimgartner, will start this afternoon’s race in 11th, missing out on a place in the battle for the pole by just 0.0366 seconds.

Richie Stanaway again struggled for one lap pace and was 14th, while Jaxon Evans was 21st.

The Top 10 Shootout begins at 12.25 pm before the race at 3.05 pm.
