Hosted at the world-class Otago Academy of Sport from Sunday 5 July to Saturday 11 July, the academy brings together eight of the country’s most promising young competitors from across circuit racing and rallying for an intensive programme designed to accelerate both their on and off-track development.

The Class of 2026 features an exciting mix of champions and rising stars from a range of disciplines:

  • Mac Templeton – GR86
  • Chris White – GR86 Champion
  • Ajay Giddy – GR86
  • Hayden Graves – Otago Rally-winning co-driver
  • Marco Manson – New Zealand Formula Ford Champion
  • Toby Elmiger – TA2 New Zealand
  • Taylor Mitchell – Toyota 86 Trophy Series
  • Nathan Grammer – New Zealand One-Hour Endurance Champion

Throughout the week, the class will undertake a comprehensive programme covering every aspect of becoming an elite athlete. Sessions include physical conditioning, nutrition, mental skills, media and communications, sponsorship, leadership, sports psychology, and performance coaching, alongside practical activities designed to challenge and develop each athlete.

MotorSport New Zealand President Deborah Day said the academy continues to play a vital role in preparing young competitors for success both in New Zealand and on the international stage.

“The Elite MotorSport Academy has become one of the most respected driver development programmes in New Zealand sport,” said Day.

“It’s about far more than developing faster drivers and co-drivers. The academy equips these young athletes with the skills, knowledge and mindset required to build successful careers in motorsport, whether that’s competing professionally, working with sponsors, engaging with media, or representing New Zealand internationally.

“The calibre of this year’s class is outstanding, and we’re excited to see how each of them develops throughout the week and beyond.”

Now in its 22nd intake, the Elite MotorSport Academy has an impressive track record of producing some of New Zealand’s leading motorsport competitors, with graduates progressing to success across Supercars, IndyCar, Formula 1, endurance racing, rallying and national championships.

The week in Dunedin marks the beginning of the academy experience for the Class of 2026, with participants working alongside an experienced team of coaches, industry experts and high-performance specialists to develop the tools needed to maximise their potential both on and off the track.
