An all-star grid of F1, Formula E and Super Formula drivers will headline the ‘Race for the World’ virtual series in a bid to raise $100,000 for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
“The initiative is a response to the current global pandemic lockdown and gives the drivers another opportunity to race online, to entertain fans across the world, and to raise some money for the WHO fund that has been established to help fight coronavirus across the world,” say the promoters.
The event will be raced on the F1 2019 game with races on Saturday 11th April, Tuesday 14th April and Friday 17th April.
Organised by Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, the grid also includes five F1 rivals: Alexander Albon, Lando Norris, George Russell, Antonio Giovinazzi and Nicholas Latifi.
Flying the flag for New Zealand will be Super Formula Champion and Super GT driver Nick Cassidy.
“So happy to make this happen,” Leclerc wrote on Twitter while making the announcement. “We all need to be united in this and to see all of this group coming together for one cause feels great.”
