Finals time for Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe leader Brendon Leitch in Italy

Current 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe series leader Brendon Leitch is in Italy for the start of a busy two weeks of racing.  The Vallelunga Circuit, Campagnano di Roma, Italy, will host the penultimate round of the European competition starting this Saturday (12-13 November 2023) before the final round next Thursday (16-17 November 2023).

This leads into the World Finals, where competitors from the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, Asia and North American series compete for the World title, again at the same circuit in Italy.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” commented Leitch.  “It is going to be busy, but we are well prepared.  Even though I haven’t raced at Vallelunga before, it won’t take long to get up to speed.”

Driving the #86 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, the Kiwi Pro driver extended his lead in the series after two races at the last round in Valencia, Spain.  A last-lap pass for victory in Race 1 was backed up with a fourth-place finish in Race 2, extending his lead to 12.5-points.

“It will be interesting,” said Leitch.  “They have split the grid into separate races, so there will be just over 20 cars in my race, not over 40 that we have previously had so less chance of a safety car intervention.  The circuit is a mixture of very high-speed corners then it finishes with a 45kph hairpin bend.”

After the opening round at the Imola Circuit in Italy was cancelled back in May, the event was moved to the end of the season, hence the double round at Vallelunga.

Fresh from competing at the Highlands 6 Hour race in Cromwell, finishing fifth overall with teammates Christina Orr-West and Tim Miles in the #141 Dayle ITM Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, Leitch is in Italy to win and take the series title.

“I’m there to win and finish every race to collect as many points as possible.”

Saturday sees two practice sessions followed by two separate qualifying periods then on Sunday two separate 50-minute races will get underway with Am and Lamborghini Cup (LC), and Pro and Pro-Am running together.
