Formats announced for Sydney quadruple header

The Supercars Championship has confirmed the tyre compounds and formats for the quadruple header at Sydney Motorsport Park.

All four rounds will be held on the 3.9 kilometre Gardner layout, though there will be a mix of tyre compounds.

It was confirmed at a Commission meeting yesterday that the first three events would all use the sprint format, with three 125 Kilometer races.

The Sydney SuperNight will be the first event. Each car will have five sets of soft tyres for the weekend, while the first race will be held under lights,

Though the second event retains the sprint format, it will be a mixed compound weekend with 5 sets of soft tyres and three sets of hard tyres for each car, as well as the first and third races under lights.

The third round won’t have any night racing and will return to the single compound format of the first weekend.

Each sprint round will see a compulsory pit stop to change at least two tyres in each race.

The final event will see two 250km races, requiring two pit stops and refuelling for only the third time this season, as well as having a 40-minute practice session dedicated to Bathurst co-drivers.

Support categories have not yet been confirmed.
