Lewis Hamilton has reassured concerned fans that he is healthy and training hard while in self-isolation after attending a public event with guests who later tested positive for Covid-19.
The six-time world champion was present at a WE Day UK event held in London’s SSE Arena in Wembley a week before travelling to Melbourne.
Also present at the event was actor Idris Elba and former TV host Sophie Gregoire Trudeau who have since both tested positive for the virus.
But Hamilton has allayed the concerns of his fans saying that he has shown no signs of symptoms and has been hard at work with training while in self-isolation.
“I did speak to my doctor and double checked if I needed to take a test, but the truth is there is a limited amount of tests available and there are people who need it more than I do, especially when I wasn’t showing any symptoms at all,” wrote Hamilton on his social media channels.
“So what I’ve done is keep myself isolated this past week, actually since practice was cancelled last Friday, and kept my distance from people.”
Likewise, McLaren has announced that the seven further team members who tested for Covid-19 have come back negative while the confirmed case from Melbourne is no longer showing any signs of symptoms.
