Hedge returns to US for Indy NXT test at Sebring

Callum Hedge’s 2024 Indy NXT campaign begins next week with a two-day test at Sebring International Raceway.

Hedge joined his HMD Motorsports team for a seat fitting on Monday and will remain in the United States until the testing schedule at Sebring is complete.

A further test at Laguna Seca awaits the 20-year-old before the season officially gets underway on the Streets of St. Petersburg on March 10.

It will be Hedge’s second time behind the wheel of an Indy NXT car following the completion of the Chris Griffis Memorial test on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course last October.

In that outing, he completed 55 laps of the circuit, battling challenging conditions in the morning before setting a best lap of 1:15.6781 to slot into the mid-field behind several full-time campaigners.

The 2024 Indy NXT Series season features 14 races over 12 rounds, meeting at venues including Road America and Mid-Ohio, where the Kiwi picked up victories on his way to claiming the 2023 Formula Regional Americas Championship.

An extra oval race, something Hedge has yet to experience, awaits competitors in the upcoming campaign, with rounds at Iowa Speedway and World Wide Technology Raceway complimenting the return of the Milwaukee Mile.

Hedge will have familiar company in the field, with 2023 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania rivals Louis Foster and Jacob Abel returning following their rookie seasons.

Other entries include British star Jamie Chadwick, race winners Reece Gold and Nolan Siegel and 2023 USF Pro 2000 champion Myles Rowe.
