In a race marred by a lengthy yellow flag after a significant first lap crash, Callum Hedge has been able to keep his nose clean and move up the order to finish four tenths behind the leader in Race 1 for Porsche Carrera Cup North America.

After starting in fourth, the race was quickly neutralised as a big crash occurred in between turns 1 and 2, involving multiple cars and bringing out a yellow flag.
Before the yellow flag was shown, Hedge had moved up into third, behind Tyler Maxson and Janne Stiak.
Drivers kept circulating and eventually, the race resumed with twenty-four minutes to go.
On the restart Hedge was able to keep up with the front two, but was unable to pass the duo. The Kiwi showed genuine pace but it became a train as drivers settled in.
Soon after the restart, drama struck the race leader Maxson. He headed into the pit lane with twenty-two minutes to go with a suspected puncture, putting him out of order and soon out of the race.
Maxson’s misfortune allowed the Kiwi to move into second place, now putting significant pressure on the 19 year old leader Stiak.
From here, Hedge never allowed Stiak to get out of his sight and the gap never widened than more than a second.
With ten minutes to go, Hedge sat four tenths of the German, and refused to let the leader rest.

As the timer counted down the gap remained constant, with the Kiwi looking like he could pounce at any time.
However, although the Kiwi looked pacy, he was unable to convert as he crossed the line mere tenths behind the leader, finishing off an intense twenty minutes of racing.
Hedge is straight back to it as the final race of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America weekend kicks off at 1:05am NZST.
