In a race of low visibility and wet weather, Callum Hedge has been able to convert his pole position start to take another win for the weekend and claw back points in his championship battle.
The race initially started under safety car due to low visibility and grip. With thirty-five minutes remaining, Hedge led the field to green. He was able to keep the lead for the first few minutes before two cars collided, bringing out a full course yellow.
It was a rather lengthy yellow flag period, and with the clock counting down, the field went green with twenty-one minutes to go. Hedge was once again able to get a good start, electing to go early to build a gap into the first corner.
Behind Hedge, championship rival Tyler Maxson moved into second while Hedge held a near two-second lead. However, disaster struck for Maxson as he skidded off at the carousel, sending him down to tenth.
Hedge continued to build an impressive lead, with the gap between Hedge and Jeansomme now sitting at four seconds. However, that lead vanished in an instant when Pratt found himself stranded in the gravel trap, bringing out yet another full course yellow.
The race resumed with three minutes to go, and Hedge once again stayed composed to build a gap into turn one.
The Kiwi kept it cool to maintain a lead of six tenths heading into the final lap, to bring home his second victory of the weekend and claim valuable championship points.
Porsche Carrera Cup North America will now take a short break and resume at the Indianapolis Road Course, on the 18th of September NZST.
