IndyCar announces 2024 schedule

IndyCar has announced its 2024 calendar, which sees Texas Motor Speedway omitted from the program for the first time since 1997 in place of a return to the Milwaukee Mile.

The season begins on March 10, with the Streets of St. Petersburg in Florida hosting the opening race again.

Two weeks later, teams will venture across the United States to participate in The Thermal Club $1 Million Challenge, a non-points event with a charity element where the winner receives an incredible $1 million payout and a network broadcast showcase on NBC.

The Streets of Long Beach will feature as the second round of the competition nearly a month later, on April 21, followed by a trip to Alabama for a round at Barber Motorsports Park the following week.

The famous month of May begins on the 11th with a race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, with Indy 500 qualifying taking place the weekend after.

The 2024 Indy 500 will be run on May 26.

A busy stretch follows through June and July, with the Streets of Detroit race a week after the Indy 500 and Road America seven days following that.

A race at Laguna Seca (June 23) is followed by a return to Mid-Ohio on July 7 and the first double-header of 2024 the weekend after, on the Iowa Speedway.

The annual trip to Canada to race on the Streets of Toronto takes place on July 21 before a four-week break ahead of the final five rounds.

The oval of World Wide Technology Raceway brings in the campaign’s closing stretch on August 17, followed by the Grand Prix of Portland on August 25.

The Milwaukee Mile oval double-header is the competition’s penultimate round, followed by the season-finale on the Streets of Nashville on September 15.

There will be a strong Kiwi presence on the grid in next year’s series, with Scott Dixon, Scott McLaughlin, Marcus Armstrong and Tom Blomqvist all running full campaigns.
